One of the hottest sensations in the Republican Party today is Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (U.S. Army, Retired), who is running for Congress in Florida’s 22nd District, which covers Palm Beach, Boca Raton and parts of northern Fort Lauderdale. A brief, six-minute speech he recently gave to a small audience in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida has been viewed more than 1,300,000 times on YouTube. That phenomenon, plus the fact that the National Republican Congressional Committee has confirmed West is “On the Radar” in its Young Guns recruitment program, promoted FOX News’ Sean Hannity to interview Allen on his program December 15.
Here in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, we are blessed to have a strong and sensible conservative like Vern Buchanan represent us. And chances are, he will be re-elected handily in 2010. But unless more candidates like Allen West step forward and run against Democrats across the country, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her henchmen will continue to dominate the agenda of our Nation, ignoring the will of the people and ramming all sorts of socialistic legislation through the House over the stifled objections of Republicans like Buchanan. |

Lt. Col. West served as an officer in the U.S. Army for 22 years, and he knows what it takes to lead, and what it takes to succeed. In Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, Allen served as battalion commander for the Army’s 4th Infantry Division. During his illustrious career, he has been awarded a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals (one with Valor), and a Valorous Unit Award.
The reigning incumbent in Florida’s 22nd District is Democrat Ron Klein, who was swept into office in 2006 when Republicans were taking a beating all over the Nation. West had just returned from a brief stint in Afghanistan when he jumped into the 22nd race late in the Spring of 2008. few thousand votes of beating Klein in a closer-than-expected race. Now West has geared up for a rematch, and this time all eyes are on him and his message of personal responsibility, fiscal accountability, and unapologetic patriotism. Widespread discontent with the Democratic Party, West’s “On the Radar” ranking with Republican leaders, and the ever increasing media exposure he is enjoying, all combine to make him a highly viable candidate to take a seat from the Democrats in 2010. If 40 more candidates can do what West is doing, Speaker Pelosi will be forced to hand over the gavel to the Republicans once again.
That is why Lt. Col. West is coming to Sarasota on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 for a very special meeting with Florida West Coast area citizens who want to do more than just help re-elect Vern Buchanan. The venue for this special gathering is the fabulous conference facilities at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in Lakewood Ranch, operated by our own military hero, Colonel John Saputo (USMC, Retired). Supporters who contribute $1,000 or more to Allen’s campaign are invited to meet with him prior to the main event at a special candidate briefing beginning at 5:30 PM on January 19th. At 6:30 PM, the doors will open to all supporters, with a suggested minimum contribution of $250. Heavy hors’ d oeuvres and a variety of beverages will be served throughout the evening. Allen will deliver what promises to be a speech that will be talked about for months to come, and will take audience questions as time permits. This is your chance to make history.
